NABCH Module

Needs

The rapid growth of the price of fossil fuels, "In 2021, gasoline increased by 19% and diesel 21%, ... in what is the highest annual increase since 2009." [1] as well as their finite nature and harmful effects on the environment, lead to the search for new energy alternatives. Given the human dependence associated with these resources, the determination of a renewable and environmentally sustainable energy source is crucial. By establishing one, it is possible to lessen the influence of the problem in question, and potentially make it null. Consequently, moving towards a sustainable future without a link to the energy alternatives of yore.

Approximation

To reduce the effects of the problem in question, the use of PEPPERONI is proposed. PEPPERONI (P-iezo-E-lectric P-ower P-latform E-ngeneered ce-R-amic c-O-mponents combi-N-ed connect-I-on) is a platform equipped with a plurality of piezoelectric sensors connected to each other, as well as a Bluetooth module and energy storage unit. Piezoelectric elements function as transducers by converting mechanical energy in the form of tension/pressure into electrical energy, according to the direct piezoelectric effect. The Bluetooth module allows the collection of data from different parts of the project remotely and wirelessly. And the storage unit accumulates the energy produced. Finally, factors such as the choice of reusable materials as contact faces, the reduced numbers of components per unit ensure the sustainability of the project.

Benefits

This proposal provides users with a new renewable and sustainable energy option and therefore a solution for reducing their ecological footprints and building a future free of energy waste. The fact that the project uses mechanical energy for the deformation of the sensors, which triggers the process of the conversion of energy, gives PEPPERONI the opportunity to use terrestrial locomotion as an energy source. Thus, the determination of places favorable to its installation is evident (Entrances of schools, shopping malls, airports; floor of nightclubs). In addition, account should be taken of the reduced dimensions and design similar to that of a common floor tile that contribute to the formulation of an equipment whose introduction is not intrusive, without the need for major changes in the urban landscapes where it is being installed.

Competition

Although there are other models to respond to the problem, the proposal presented more directly should be compared to other models that are similar in design, the material used and the methodology. Thus, the names of companies such the first of which has a configuration similar to PEPPERONI, but does not use the direct piezoelectric effect for energy production; the second uses the same methodology at the level of obtaining energy, but uses a different sensor model.

Both companies seem to keep their results hidden. The competition makes no reference to a Bluetooth system incorporated in the equipment something that is an added value in the monitorization of each energy unit, as well as provides a more interactive model. The proposed proposal falls within the established economic range, as a reference each ® module is approximately US$75-160; PEPPERONI $110.

Hook

On the road to a sustainable future several "steps" will be taken, and we will make energy from them.
